My new Martin!!

I have been getting back to playing acoustic guitar more and more over the past five years. I never understood the magic of Martin guitars until I played a few at a local music store. I fell in love with the D-28 and the M-38, but I had also a keen interest in the Steve Earle signature M-21 (no way to try or see one in person).
Although the M-21 is described as a "poor man's M", it was still a bit outside my reach financially (I love Mr. Earle, but I think he may be a bit out of touch with the 'poor folk' LOL!!)

The "M" appealed to me because of the balance and comfort. It is a great finger picking guitar, but also can be strummed pretty hard and maintains a really good tonal balance. It doesn't have the boom of the Dread, but that was another plus for me, as I hope to do a lot of recording (My Taylor Jumbo has proven to be too 'boomy' at times)

So, I found something that added almost all of the elements that appealed to me. It's a OOOO-28H. An "M" bodied guitar with appointments similar to the D-28 herringbone.

I love it so far. I haven't had a chance to record with it yet, but am looking forward to it!!!

The folks who have posted of their experiences here greatly influenced my desire to seek out a Martin, and I thank you all!!

Re: My new Martin!!

Great post.

I too am looking at "M" series Martins.

I am on the fence about an M36 or may sell my Es335 and order the M38 Koa Special.

Re: My new Martin!!

Actually, after playing many new and used acoustics, I went with a Gibson Country and Western Limited Reissue.

Great guitar and compliments my HD28V nicely.
