Dude, you've got to go to Italy! Tuscany, the Italian Riviera, northern lake area (Lago di Como & Lago di Garda). Great folks, unbelievable food and wine, and very, very beautiful!!!:2c

My wife's family is planning a big family trip for the year 2004.
She wants to know everybody's suggestions.
Italy was my #1.

My favorite place so far has been Jamaica. It was unbelievable! Maybe I'll make it back there in this life. Other cool places IMO - Florida Keys and Breckenridge.

Gazza,

Have you been to Colorado? I here it's nice there. :lol2

Seriously though, I like Estes Park, Co. in the late summer early fall. The mountains are beautiful.

Actually I like to travel anywhere. I liked Atlanta, DC and Orlando when I was there.

Got to do it Nelson! I lived in Germany for two years, and my wife and I would get to Italy as often as we could (Germans get 6 weeks vacation, so we had a lot of time to explore). France is cool too if you stay out of the cities. Rent an Alfa and do some exploring!

I try to get to the Great Basin Desert in Northern Nevada every couple of years. That and the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Northern Calif. are the places that recharge my batteries.

I am a commercial photographer by trade and have travelled pretty extensively. My favorite place on earth so far is NewZealand. Hardly any people, you can go from climbing on a glacier to walking on a white sand beach in about one hour. Second would be Tuscany. Favorite city is Venice, (gorgeous light)!

i live in a great vacation spot.
average air temp is 87, the average wind is ese about 12knots, the average water temp hovers around 84 or so.
a little rock about 25 miles long, 8 miles wide, right on the northern/eastern boundry of the caribbean sea.
the diving is fantastic, the people are friendly, and shoes are something i keep in the car for store stops.
some days life is just too good.
actually my fave vacation spot is the little island nation of Saba. some of the best diving in the world and a pretty spot none the less. an island that is almost as tall as it is long. and the water is equally as deep!!
(still looking for that smilie **hint hint hint**)

I have to agree with you. My wife is from near Venice. (Pordenone). Northern Italy is fantastic.

We are lucky that she has relitives to stay with and we don't have to rent a car because they give us one of theirs. The drive from Vencie west to Monte Carlo is unbelievable. The coast and the color of the water. I think that Portofino is the most beautiful place on earth.

Monte Carlo is great too.

Brian,

Portofino is amazing. We only stayed 2 nites, but when we go back we'll probably stay longer. The problem with Italy is that ther are just too many incredible places to see.

Our favorite place is a small town called Fiezole in the hiils overlooking Florence. Etruscan and Roman ruins (with almost no tourists pouring over them), 15 mi. drive to the center of Florence, close to Sienna and Pisa, and some of the best hotels in Italy. I can't wait to get back !

my favorite vacation spot is this little place in my head that I visit everyday. Serenity Now - Serenity Now...

No matter when or where, I can go there and relax and take a break from the daily. If you can't find this place, it doesn't matter *where* you go on the map, Serenity Now Serenity Now...
I've seen people take a vacation and come home more tense than before they left. Serenity Now!! It's a way of life :)

you know, NOCD is the "Prince of Nothing". We may have to bow to the great wasteland of nothingness that occupies his head.
Or something like that...:bh

BTW - I've been honing my skills for over 2 decades, you guys are up against some tuff competition. Of course, I don't compete, that would take too much energy:D

Phucket, pronounce the "Ph" as an "F" and you're not far wrong :) That's a whole one hour flight from here, but we ain't been in years. We hopped up to Bangkok and Pattaya last year for a week, but it was too rushed and regimented. Anything up to eight hours a day on a tour Bus with a guide who insisted on speaking Mandarin 'cos half the tour paty was from Singapore. At least when he was speaking Cantonese I could get 30-40% of what he was saying and Wendy could fill in the rest.

We go to Hong Kong for at least a coupl,e of weeks a year, but that's visiting family and tends to be harder work than being at work ;)

Otherwise I like to get down to Malacca here in Malaysia for a break every so often. My buddy has a Bar/recording studio down there and I'm supposed to be going there to track guitars when I get the time. Singapore's good for along weekend as well, but expensive comapred to here. Ain't been there for nearly a tear, which is a shame as I have guitar mad friends down there who are fun to jam with.

Life in SE Asia. Ain't it a bitch?

Favorite place that I have actually been to is the Black Hills of South Dakota. If you can, go during Bike Week to see all the bikes at Sturgis.

There were some great places in Norway, the fjords and stuff, it doesn't get much better than that.

I also like western Montana, Glacier park and that area. Bozeman is nice, too. Some nice areas in northern California, too. Colorado (but not Denver) is real nice, the area around Flagstaff, AZ is nice. Anywhere where it is scenic and the insects don't eat you alive!

Sometimes I take it for granted living in MN, but the drive down the Mississippi river on hwy 61 is really nice. I also like the Duluth/North Shore area, too.

Kauai - It is the most beautiful place on earth. Big waves, tropical forests, blue blue oceans, less development than the other islands....

Colorado,,, i'll be going there in a few weeks.. Estes Park huh Tim C,,,, Love that place, we're going to do that again this year, then head on down toward the 4 corners... Silverton, Durango, that area..

Looking to maybe move there..

Hawaii is nice too, but, for the "getaway", head to the mountains..
