My mandolin is a Mid Mo M2W (wider neck) and I love it I just wish it moved more air. I was told to look for an octave mando 'lin' or 'la' . I thought mandolas were tuned staring with C, but the freshwater model ff106 is supposed to be dd-gg-aa-ee.

David Freshwater called me from Scotland(2 misses, 1 complete) then talked to me for alomst an hour BEFORE I said I'd buy anything. He is an unbelievably nice guy. My Mid Missouri is on its way to Elderly so I can fund my first
octave mandola. Side note: he was putting the finishing touches on Richie Blackmores octave that day. The mandola is due here in January (760 USD shipped).

sounds like the kind of support that a customer loves.

I'm sure he makes a quality product. Congrats. hank

Got my Feshwater Octave Mandolin (used at Elderly rather then direct); holy ding dang heckamadoodle! It sounds like equal parts 12 string/huge mandolin/honky tonk piano/bazooki and is about the size of a coffee table. Banjo killer for sure (killed one last night!). While Celtic mandos (flat tops) don't really cover Bgrass that well, this big girl does. Just the thing for me folks; I'm a guitar convert and was attracted to the unison strings but wished for more volume from a mando; well I found it. Pics to follow (camera down). Yippeeee

As an update; after the initial 'crush' wore off, I realized I was playing the OM too mcuh like a guitar. Finely built instrument with tons to offer, but not for me. Sold it, and just ordered a Breedlove.
I'm fickle!
