If a person was going to have a pickup installed in an acoustic guitar what would you folks reccomend? This person really likes the fishman stereo blender systems but doesn't want to hack up the guitar that much.Any reccomendations for this unknowledgeable person? :bh
I love the fishmanstuff. hank

for NO hacking on the guitar AND great sound look into the LR Baggs I-Beam system. Stew/Mac has them.

Screw that- just wrap a long thin copper wire around a thread spool, stick a magnet into the middle of it, and STAPLE that sucker right to the top under the strings. It'll work fine.
Really. Honest.;)

I read some reviews of the I-beam and the majoirty of them were negative. That left me feeling ill about the I-beam.

that's funny, the I-Beam (http://www.lrbaggs.com/html/products/systems_ibeam.html) has won all kinds of awards and I saw a demo on a Dan Erlewine video of the system. It sounded great and the best part was that it isn't a piezo. I almost ordered one for a job, but still haven't had the chance to get one. You can also blend the I-Beam with a under saddle piezo. The reviews (http://www.lrbaggs.com/html/reviews/index.html) I've read were glowing..oh well you never know until you try it yourself I guess...
good luck and please let us know what you go with!

I can't wait for your review!!!
the thing with the beam is you can move it around for the optimum position and did I mention it is NOT a piezo...yes I think I did:D
The active system is the one getting the good reviews, I wonder if that's the one you'll be test driving? Can't wait to hear what you have to say about it!
