What do you all think of a western Red Cedar top?
I played a Taylor 714 ce with Rosewood back and sides and a cedar top that sounded incredible.
The guitar was very light and articulate but loud.
I love the look of the cedar. I played a 714 CE recently at my son's request. It had a cutaway too. Anyway, it sounded excellent. Very mellow to me.

I played a Taylor that had western red cedar and the guitar sounded dead,I don't know if it was just that certain guitar or what was up.

It wasn't dead, it may have just seemed that way because you were playing Goodalls, Huss and Daltons, Collins and Martins just prior ... ;)
