It does work quite well. The software allows you to set the upper and lower tones, (treble/ bass) and you can set the amount of sweep. The only thing that is not great is if I'm using it in the basement (it's carpeted) you have to push down quite hard to kick it on. It works great on a hard floor though.
I use it more as a tone mod. I keep it on, find a tone I like and leave it there. A friend of mine who is a good player and knows about vintage gear told me it does sound good.
