I'm attempting to arrange an open jam/party for all Les Paul Forum, Fender Forum and Café Wah members in the Tri-State area. Here's where it stands so far:

I've got a place in mind, but have to hammer out the details with the owner. I'd like to invite all Fender Forum, Les Paul Forum and Café Wah Forum members to attend. I think a lot of us subscribe to all 3 groups anyway. The precise date is pending.

The bar is extremely easy to get to, spacious (there's a separate room with pool tables), and has a good size stage area with ample seating for "spectators". There's a nice menu, but I don't believe the kitchen is open until dinnertime. I may supply a 6-foot wedge for lunchtime munchies. Drinks will be pay-as-you-go. It's right off exit 9 on I-95, just 10 miles or so from the NY border. Directions to follow.

I'll supply plenty of amps and an assortment of stomp boxes, but people will need to bring their own axes and cables. I might be coerced into bringing my Hammond B3 and Leslie to the gig, but only if there's going to be competent keyboard player in attendance. I'd also appreciate some help in moving it - I live close to the bar. I'm not proficient on the ivories. The bar has its own PA system, but I may augment it with some of my own gear. I could use a good power amp and maybe a monitor or two. Everything else is pretty much covered (I'll provide more details when I get them).

I have an excellent bass player that's willing to commit to pretty much a whole day of playing, and a couple choices of good drummers. Not sure if the drummers will ask for reimbur$ment or not. In any case, they're great players with killer backbeats and solid time.

There will definitely be costs involved. I'm willing to put up a few hundred $, but donations toward expenses would be appreciated. Probably no more than $10 per head.

What I need to find out is what kind of interest there is and what the best date would be to hold a TSMFJ (Tri-State Multi-Forum Jam). I think a Saturday would be good, maybe in early October. I'd like to be set up and ready to ROCK by 1:00pm. I'm concerned that the bar may have a band booked already to play that evening, so that's something else I still have to deal with.

Feel free to comment here or send email directly to me. I'm hoping we can get 20 or so people (the more the merrier!) and really have a great time. And yes, I'll write up some name tags. Best - Tom

Nelson:

This will be in Stamford, CT. 10 miles from New York in the other direction. I sorta forgot to mention that, didn't I? Oops... ;)
