I'm thinking about buying a small amp for acoustic guitar. I don't have the need to fill a room of whatever size with it, my need would be to get a good sound with piezo-equipped acoustic guitars and a miked resonator, being independent of what the soundman puts on my monitor, then going line-out into the PA system. I'm on a budget, too. The Acoustasonic 30 DSP seems to be a good choice for what I want and within my price range. Anybody here has any experience with these?
Thanks

Yes.....and no. Yes, because the acoustic guitar player in our church band uses that very amp and no, I've never used it. He plays a Taylor 312CE, I think, thru it and the sound is very good. Now, he plays with a light touch and mainly just chords but the sound, at the sake of being redundant, is very good. Outstanding? No. Very good, Yes.

Thanks, Allen. Very good isn't too bad for piezo generated amplification, isn't it? I don't think you'll ever get outstanding (natural sounding, that is) tone / sound from a piezo. An acoustic with a piezo is an electric after all.

Get a Fishman ProPlatinum Pre and a powered speaker. Then when you can afford it get another powered speaker and a small mixer (which you probably already own):), and you've got the makings of a great gig rig. The preamps in all of the small acoustic amps are not sufficient for piezos, or resonator guitars. You need to have parametric EQ, notch filtering and compression. Small acoustic amps aren't generally for pro's! There for home players, and semi pro's. If you've got to get an amp go with FISHMAN, SWR, SCHERTLER. These companies are more geared to what you will need, and they all make little rigs. But my first suggestion is what I will stand by. I've said it before, I do over 300 gigs a year, and a lot of crap gear gets tossed aside. The only little acoustic amp I own is a Roland AC60 and although it's pretty small and convenient, it does not sound acoustic, and it sounds much better IMHO than the acoustasonic 30.

You didn't settle for a cheap reso, so I know you won't be happy with a little amp. Besides that, the Fishman proplatinum preamp, is something you will use forever, and can be used with a regular electric guitar amp to make it suitable for acoustic work (and still be better and cheaper than buying an acoustisonic)! Soundmen love this little preamp. It's powered by phantom power or 9volt battery, has compression, notchfiltering, 4 band EQ (semiparametric mids), phase reversal, pre and post EQ out switch, and is built like the proverbial "brick shithouse". There isn't one feature on this pre that I don't use

Anybody ever tried a Kustom Sienna (35 or 65)?
