Tried out some more acoustics and was surprised to see some Martins that are supposedly made just for Guitar Center. Played one called the MMV that I don't see on Martins website. Lovely, wonderful sounding, great playing guitar. (There's another one to add to the list).

There's a few other models (can't recall them offhand) that are suppose to be exclusive to GC. Anyone know what's up with this? Are these in fact truly made for GC, or are they current production models that are just given a differant name for GC?

I don't have an exact answer. I have seen some simplified D-28's at my local GC .... I think they had satin finishes.

I'm still wondering about this myself. I even sent an e-mail to Martin asking about these "GC exclusive guitars" but haven't gotten a response yet.

Most likely, Martin won't reply. Too many times I've heard Chris Martin say that the dealers were his customers.

Seems like a lot of companies take that view. On one hand I can understand that, but on the other you'd think they would be willing to help someone who's thinking about purchasing one of thier guitars for the first time.

Try calling them. Seriously.

I had a question about a guitar once, couldn't find an answer. Took a long shot, called, got a warm body on the phone within a couple of rings. That person put me in touch with who I needed to speak to to get the answer I needed.

It's worth a try.
