Anybody else tried Cool Picks? I kind of like them.
They come in two types. One has a series of small rubber dots that stick to your finger so you don't drop it. The other has a sandpaper type of grip.

Cool picks I guess. That is what it says on them.
What type do you use? Thin, medium, heavy?
Shoot me an email with your addy and I will pick some more up and send a couple to you. I thought they were pretty cool. So far they seem to still be working well and the stuff hasn't rubbed off yet.

Hey Tim,
send an email with your mailing address, I want to send you a couple of Moshay's. They are the only picks Lily and I use these days. They're the ones with the hole in em'. I'd like to know what you think of them. How heavy do you like them?
maybe we should start a pick trading post!

I've got about 3,000 picks. Seriously. Delrin, tortex, d'andrea, jazz, bone, stone, plastic, vinyl, wood, leather, felt, cloth, copper, steel, aluminum, lead, ceramic, pretty much anythign you can make a pick out of.
And I use the dandrea 352's in extra heavy most often, though I also like the gatorgrips and tortex in 1.14. The Dlerins are nice too, but I mostly use the 2.0 mil size there.
The problem with the delrins and gator grips is they're not quite long enough.

I'm using Brain picks. The have a grip on them that's molded into the plastic. If you guys want I'll pick up a couple of handfuls next time I get over to the store.
Also, if anyone would trade for some bone picks I'd be grateful. I've been wondering how these sound for a while. Oh, and if you guys have any leads on bone slides send 'em over my way. :)

Dunlop Tortex large triangles .88 (green).
I drill a 3/8 hole through the middle for grip.

There you go! That is the best way to get a grip. The guy who used to play with Lee Rocker's Big Blue, Mike Eldred, gave me one of his picks 7-8 years ago. It had a hole in the middle of it. Ever since then, that's all I've used. You never drop them!
TBD
Tim, I played last night for awhile, and I decided to give the Cool Picks a try.
I will tell you the truth - I was just trying to be nice. hee hee I LOVE the moshays - because of the hole punched in the middle. They are really nice too, I will have to send you a few.
BUT - I love the Cool Picks too! No kidding! The grip does the same job so that the pick doesn't go flying out of my fingers, AND I like the pick itself - the material it's made of or something...it works really well - I was genuinely surprised and pleased....thanks for sending them! Now I have 2 types of picks I love.

I am glad you like them :lily!
Are they the thickness you usually use because they come in different thickness'. I can get different ones if you use thicker.
:timc
I put a hole in mine too (I use a hole punch). It kind of gives my thumb and forefinger a place to call home.
I used to keep the text on the pick under my thumb, but it wears off.
If I can't feel anything, the pick wanders until I drop it.
BTW, I use the green Dunlop Tortex picks.

:timc, the thickness you sent works fine. Thanks :lily
I use either D'andrea jazz in .88, or Fender 351's abalone celluloid mediums.. I play so much with my fingers and a pick, i don't need to hold on to them too tight...:D

I usually play with a Dunlop Tortex pick in heavy or the really heavy guages. I sometimes find a medium or so around the house and play with it too and think, "hmmm, maybe these aren't so bad...". Is there a "standard" guage vs playing theory for speed? I read once that Yingwie M uses Fender mediums and that surprised me because I've always associated speed with a heavy guage pick. I am trying to figure out if I should go to a lighter guage to play faster, more difficult parts. Thanks!

I like the .73 mm yellow tortex picks myself and I also use a quartz pick some times when I practice to get smoother on my alternate picking technique.

I use purple Tortex jazz picks and regular blue Tortex picks for electric and both jazz and regular yellow Tortex picks for accoustic.
Also use a large, heavy National thumb pick and two National metal fingerpicks or Dunlop medium plastic fingerpicks on both accoustic and electric.
Sometimes I play with just thumbpick or pure fingerstyle.
Guess I can't make up my doggone mind!!!!!!
Don't use any shovels.

I like the little Dunlop 3mm dark purple "Watermelon seed" picks used mainly for mandolin;but also for electrics as well. They're small and thick, easy to clutch.

Don't shoot me!!!!!! I didn't kill the turtle. I found a place in Tokyo that sells tortise shell picks. Other than those I like Dunlop Gator Grip 1.14mm picks

I like Martin mediums with a thin strip of skateboard tape across the top to enhance the grip. Skateboard tape is cheap, works really well and is self-adhesive.
