I traded in my 814CE on it. I was lucky in that the dealer let me take it home so I could compare and make up my mind whether to keep it.

I put new strings on my 814CE so the tone test would be fair.

To tell you the truth they sound very similar to each other. I thought the maple would have more snap to it an be a bit brighter. Not really. When chording with a pick they sound so similar. When flat picking or fingerpicking the 614CE is brighter.

When plugged in the 614 also seems brighter and louder.

I thought the 814CE would be louder for sure. It was not. I should have kept them both!

What retailer did you purchase it from? Did they move much from the list price? I ask because I am in the market for the same guitar but down in Halifax you have only two choices for Taylor - take it or leave it (Musicstop has a monopoly.

I bought it from "The Guitar Shop" Mississauga Ontario. I have no idea what list is on them but a 814CE goes for about 3250.00 and a 614CE about 3,050.00.

They always seem a couple of hundred less than Long and McQuade.

Brain our tastes seem similar, ever since I got my 814ce I`ve had my eye on the 614ce.
