Hello,
Archtop.com says the L4s (at least those from the late 1920s & early 30s) with their round sound holes and 16" lower bout, play more bass than other archtops of this size; and yet because they are only 16" they do not have that dark bass overlay to their midrange notes that I hear with a bigger guitar. I heard one sound sample on the net last year which confirmed this but it may have been an oddity. I would like to buy a cd which features this guitar. Does anybody know of one? A recording made in the fifties, sixties or seventies might be more likely to show the true voice than would an old wax cylinder or 78 transcription, but I would welcome any recomendation.
Thanks, Brian
