Do you all still use the Elxirs? if so which ones? or did you go to bronze?

I recently bought a 110 to hold me over until I get a 414. It is strung with Elixir Nanowebs (13's). The tone is kind of dull. I prefer a brighter tone myself but I suspect that it is the guitar and not the strings since I have this same string on a couple of Gibson's and very pleased with them. I plan to try lighter gauge Elixir's and see if it brightens up some.

Mine came with the Elixers and I did not like them. They came off in a couple of hours. Went with D'Addario Bronze 12's.

How does it sound now? I have started to go off the elxirs now and as you have the same model as me I would like you opinion.

The Phosphor Bronze D'Addario's are brighter but my guess is they go dull quicker.

I guess it is a compromise. The Elixers start off a little dull but will stay that way and not get any worse for some time. The non coated will get dull much quicker so I'll be changing strings 3 times as often most likely.

I am still going to experiment with other types and brands though. The quest is on!!!

Cool keep me posted on your findings, some one else recommended the D`Addarios version of the elixers but i ain`t tried them yet. I`ve got a set of phospor bronzes lying about i`m going to put on just now.

D'Addarrio EXP coated strings, I like better than Elixers but last at least as long. I get about 40 hours out of them before I change them out.

Elixirs on a small maple guitar (612) - just right.
BTW i was floored by the new EXPs nylons since they reworked on (too much copper on the first version - ahh green fingers). And made them cheaper!! Scuse me for hijacking the thread on Taylors.
Cheers

I've always used the standard Elixers on my 514CE, but now Elixer has a phosphor bronze. It's all I use on my acoustics. They last much longer than a non coated, and my fingers have gotten used to them. Anything else feels sticky now.

No Taylor here but since we are so few let me chime in here: I was able to pick up a box of Gibson Masterbuilt Premium Phosphor Bronze strings .012-.054 for decent money a while ago and I like them.

Those Gibson's are nice Tom.
I tried a set that were newly installed on a friends & the had his guitar sounding much better.

Another friend has a Taylor 710CE.
It is really nice but not my cup of tea.
When I went to jam with him yesterday he had changed his strings out to Elixers polyweb & to a heavier guage (.013-.056).
I like the guitar much more now.
I do not care for the nanowebs however....too slippery.

I use Elixir extra light nanoweb. I really love the sound after they have after quite a bit of use. I don't change the strings that often and use fast-fret on the first two to keep the rust off.

Elixer now has a phospher bronze string. I tried them and they are very good.

I changed 'em out for D'Addario EXP10 Coated 80/20 Bronze Extra Light (10-47) strings on my Taylor T5. I'm thinking about putting electric strings on it but so far the acoustic strings see to be working out.

Still using them. I really like the way they sound the older they get. Maybe that's crazy?

Thanx for all the views guys, I`m been playing with different sets in her but when I get home next month I `m going to get a few packs of the elxirs again. Looking back they actually suit the taylor better. They coat the E and B strings now I believe which will be a bonus.
