Just thought I'd share a picture of a friends old 1906 Gibson. Thought the inlay was pretty fancy looking and I'd bet it has some good mojo! :bigal

Nice.
However, can I ask you to confirm that the neck and/or bridge are "real"?
I mean no offense, but a slotted head on a Gibson from that era would be amongst the first. That is a Martin-style pyramid bridge.
Just my observations. hank

Hi Hank- I had exchanged a couple guitar pics with an old friend of mine and this acoustic was one piece that stuck out to me. I asked about this one in particular and He wrote that it was an all original...never altered (expect for the strings) 1906 Gibson. :hmm
Doesn't matter to me one way or the other and thought it a curious piece to share for comments here. Your observations are interesting though.
I agree, it doesn't matter. However, I'm a nut and nuts like accuracy. Again, I don't think Gibson ever produced a slotted headstock during that era. Thanks.

Better check again Hank. That is most certainly original. 1906 Gibson Style O had a slotted headstock and pyramid bridge. Beautiful guitar. Let me know if it is ever for sale. Thanks.
Welcome and thanks for correcting me. I'll trust your word. :ola

Sorry, I did not mean for my first post to be correcting the moderator but I am fascinated by this early period of Gibson. The Style O started in 1903 with a solid headstock but changed to the slotted headstock in 1906. Thanks. Great site!
No harm. You learn something every day. I'll be looking for those at the Nashville Guitar Show March 4/5.
