I am thinking an all mahogany and am looking closely at the D-15. However, I am a big Larrivee fan, having bought two Larrivees both with amazing quality. I see for the same amount of $ as the D-15 you can get one of the Larrivees with neck binding, ect. Also, Martin substitues sapele for Mahogany whereas Larrivee uses mahogany. Larrivees tend to sound bright and I am looking for that smokey, sad blues tone. Any comments would be appreciated!

Buy the D-15. If you order one from a quality store like Elderly, you can specify all Mahagony. Martin never mixes the body wood on a D-15; if the label says Mahagony Top Guitar the sides and back will also be Mahagony. Many stores interchange the the woods and do not specify what you are getting but Elderly does.

I had two Martins (a D-15 and an OM 16 GT) and as much as I loved the classic Martin growl; I likes the top shimmer of the Larrivee's that I had played in stores. I bought a Larrivee Parlor.

The variety is great. Each guitar has a unique voice. D, OOO and Parlor.

You've got the nice Larry's, buy a Martin. Mix it up. The D-15's have that great straight braced Martin Dread Tone, like a D-28 but more wooden and bluesy with the solid mahagony top. They never loose that spicey mahagony smell either. My wife likes the tone of my D-15 the most, she loves the bass.
