What is the verdict on Seagulls? I am fascinated by the Canadian guitar industry and own two Larrivees. I am blown away by Larrivee quality and was curious how Seagulls stack up, especially the S-12. You see the S-12s on the Bay for only a couple hundred dollars these days..

being Canadian, i have played a ton of Seagulls... but i've never been thrilled with one. Good guitars yes, but not GREAT guitars... just not as "alive" as Larrivees generally are (recent Larrivees and 45-year-old Gibsons rule the roost around my house...)

Eh...? Canada is a fascinating place. Larrivee seems to lead the Canadian acoustic guitar industry. I guess the industry as a whole gets support from Ottawa, the Provinces, a cheap looney and the blessings of NAFTA - ie, sell in the USA. What amazes me is the astounding quality.. how do they do that? I have a Larrivee D-03R which I liked so much I bought a D-03 for someone as a gift. I was hoping Seagull would be another Larrivee, but from your feeback and the street prices I see, I guess not. Too bad.
Thanks!

I think rockandroller provides a fair assessment. I don't think Seagull is trying to be a Larrivee.
