This is my first posting, although I knodw Nelson from High School. I remember him playing a killer red ES 335 in 1968!
Nelson if you have trouble putting a face to the name you stopped by my house about 10 years ago to buy a figured top Les Paul Premium Plus.
Anyway! I've been lookin for a small body acoustic to play mostly blues and some strumming Beatle type tunes. Loved some of the Martin 00028ec's, but others were total dogs. Loved an HD28v I just played, but I'm never again buying full price from a retail store. Has anyone played the MArtin ps2 (Paul Simon) model. The size and shorter scale sound interesting. I figure if it's named after Paul it should also be a better strummer than the Clapton model. But I could be wrong. Any feedback appreciated.
Thanks,
Alain

Compared to the LPF, this is a sleepy forum, or are you guys just practicing all the time. Just bought a Martin ps2 (paul simon) this morning. Almost identical to the Clapton 00028ec but with a nicer treble response. Not quite as bluesy but you can strum or pick folk, Beatles etc..., Anyone else play one of these?

Yep, we're a little sleepy, but with good folks like you we can keep it interesting.
I'm not familiar with the PS2, but it's bound to be good. I hope to acquire a nice 12-fret 000 down the road myself.
Enjoy the PS-2 and welcome!

Congratulations on picking up the PS2, That is one of those models that, when I first saw one, I just knew it was a great sounding guitar. My Martin is an HD-28 but man I love the small body Martins. A friend had an old 00-17 (I'm almost positive that was the model) a 00 size mahogany top that was one of the nicest sounding and recording guitars I have ever heard. Enjoy your new guitar.

My 000 is a 16 series Martin, I love it. The PS2 is a beautiful guitar. I've played two of them. The inlay of the earth on the headstock is just amazing to look at. The two that I held had bookmatching that was to die for. The sound was fantastic when they were new. I can only imagine playing one for a year and listening to it along the way. Sorry for sleeping! I have 3 Martins. I'm a bit of a Martin nut. You really picked a winner.
Green with envy,
John

...I'm a bit sleepy myself--but I just saw a pic of another small body Martin, a 00-18 with the cool sunburst (shaded) top--wow, that woke me up!
(hey Hank, you gave me advise in another post about my GAS/Gear addiction) but there's no cure except to give in and buy more (it still seems cheaper than little red sportscars and wild women!).

Is that one of the 12fretters, lp59pete? Love to see that one.
Anyway, I didn't get that old Martin, had some issues with tuners mod and patch job on the headstock veener. But got this one, a 1947 Martin 00-18 also with the very rare shaded (sunbrust) finish--she's a sweetie:

Nice sinner!
And the Gibson too?
You've been busy in the acoustic department & got some fine guitars.
You can see I made it this time!

Hey Bluesjuke--glad you made it! Right you are, I've been busy with the acoustic side of things. Actually, going back and forth between my electrics and acoustics, which keeps me very busy (and out of trouble!). I think I see improvement, both in technique and feel, and hearing things fresh.
The only problem, now I have too many guitars and not enough time to play them all. But then again, the real problem is not too many guitars, but not enough space! If I had a bigger place I could have all the guitars out all the time and just do down the line, picking each one up daily!
The little Martin 00-18 and the little Gibson L-00 are really fine! Each has it's very own personality and I enjoy this new acoustic challenge, the new (old) repertoire, and the difference voices of each guitar. The Martin is sweeter, easy to play and the Gibson is like having my very own little lap piano!
