I've got a 1949 L7N, one of my favorites and still an undervalued archtop. Basically the same guitar as an L5 without the ornamentation. This one has a bubble figuring on the back and neck.

I have a 49 L7C in sunburst too. Since someone fitted a DeArmond floating i have a cut in my Scratchplate. I lately added a Bartolino A6 floatin instead. I had a hard time getting the right strings for this electro-acoustic but i'm now very happy with the GHS White Bronze strings - both acoustic and electric sound is great.
One problem: there is a heavy green gunk on the scratchplate bracket - how to remove??
Cheers

I just got an '54 L5N that is very similar in wood figuring to the '50 L7N pictured above. Gibson must of had a stash of bubble figured maple during that timespan.
The L5N needed a refret, which took some time, but now it's very responsive,
I'd like to find one of those DeArmond 1100 pickups for it, hard to come by these days. These archtops definitely make one feel like an old phart, but it's a good feelin.
