I must say bravo to Taylor and Mr. Rupert Neeve. The new system is gorgeous sounding. Only three dials..... bass, treble and volume and no need for that big hole cut in the side of your guitar. The unfortunate thing is that this sytem is only available in Taylors otherwise I would love to install this in a Martin. Now I'm no Taylor fan, I've owned and I've sold 'em but this system sounds so great a Taylor is possibly going to be added to my arsenal.
Taylor's going to have a clinic at GC locally 4/24. I'll have to check it out.
I'm a Martinman, as they say. However, I love the Doyle Dykes black guitar. awesomehank

Cool, let me know what you think. The biggest thing I hate about Taylors is bolt on necks.:( The other thing I hate about Taylors is that they don't sound like Martins. ;)

What don't you like about the bolt-on necks?
......... bolts! :lol :bh
Actually, the bolt-on necks don't bother me. I prefer the Martin tone-center rather than Taylor's. Not criticizing Taylor. I once owned a 510 that was very nice. Alas, a Martin came along and the Taylor got legs, iykwim. hank :D

Have you guys tried the new dreds that are suposedly closer to a Martin?
I am interested to hear what you guys think.

Which one Ian, 810, 710, 610, 510, 410? Did they change anything on them?

They changed all the X10 series dreds. The bracing has been redesigned as they put it to retain the Taylor character, but double the power and volume.
What I would call an attempt to capture more of a Martin type sound.
Check out the latest issue of wood and steel. Not sure if it is inthe stores yet, should be soon. There is an article on the new dreds.

Does anyone know if this system will ever be available as a retrofit for other guitars?
Ian?

Not that I know of. it is a completely different route in the side of the guitar.
