Got to check out a D18-GE and a HD-35.The D18-GE was very nice,I loved all of its appointments and the guitar sounded pretty good. Then there was the HD-35:XRE :drl, man did I love that guitar. The bass response on the HD-35 was great, the guitar sounded so smooth and piano like.To sum it up an HD-35 IS my next acoustic guitar.
Wow, that's cool!
My choice would be the D18 GE, primarily for its bluegrass balls and the fact that I've got access to two. I've been playing them a lot lately. The Adirondack top alone is worth the price of admission.
The HD-35 is a very smooth, balanced guitar (as you said). I believe the bracing is slightly different than an HD-28. The HD-35 has the Indian rosewood, so the bass lines would be somewhat darker than the D18 GE.
Also, the D18 GE has a 1 3/4" neck vs. the 1 11/16" on the HD-35.
I'd say they're priced about the same. The HD-35 is a great choice. hank

The Adirondack top is very cool, the first thing I said when I made a chord on the D18-GE was "This has got a 1 3/4 nut".

I like mahogany guitars but I can't ever talk myself into buying one.
I'm that way about Telecasters. I've had a couple, but can't find one that I can bond with.

The Smartwood I recently checked out is by far the best acoustic I've played. It pains my inner Taylor-lover to admit as much.
lure, I'm lost. Smartwoods? Brand or model? Tell us more please.
