Anyone ever do this? I've heard it makes an acoustic guitars tone sound better than when the pick guard is on.

Maybe to a machine but to the human ear I doubt it. :bh

I don't know that piece of plastic glued to the top could affect the way the top moves and reacts.

Are you planning on peeling yours off?

No. I dont have the gut's.
Did it recently with a Blueridge acoustic of mine. Didn't sound any better and I'd wanted a different pickguard on anyway.
If the guard was really thick and screwed on, I can see where it might affect tone.

If you peel the guard there is a very good chance of damaging the finish.
I'd leave it on.

Yes. I was actually told that you can peel a Martin guard off yourself without damaging anything due to the type of glue they use.But anything like a Gibson, Taylor, etc. should go back to the factory for such removal.

hey, why doesn't anyone make pickguards out of wood?
I'd rather have some wood, than a big ol' piece of plastic glued to the soundboard.
