How many came to the Cafe Wah from the LPF and are registered under a different user name?
I know some may not wish to reveal that info. It was a curiosity question only.

I signed up the first day. Same name. I think I visit here more than the LPF now.
I just don't seem to play my LP anymore so I don't go to that site as often. About 50% of my play is on my PRS, 40% on the Strat and 10% on the LP. I can't even give a good reason for the lack of LP play.
Might have something to do with the revelation that my STD is a drilled out block of swiss cheeze with a short tenon. When I bought it I never even new what an R8 or R9 was.
Now that I have had a chance to hold and play a couple of R8's they seem much better. (Not that I have the playing skills to need the better version). Maybe its just knowing that the differences are there.
Oh well, something else to blow some money on.

I am sort of stuck as Tonefiend since there is an Ian Anderson on the lpf already. And it's not me.

I came here from the LPF. Lily said I didn't play well enough to hang at the LPF .......................... so Wah the hell, here hank is.
My real name was taken, so I used my dream name: hank

aw brian, that is silly...I guess that is what drives me crazy sometimes at the lpf ,...if it isn't over 3 grand for your LESTER it just isn't a good guitar...from what I see in your avitar,...you have three beautiful guitars...LP's are sensitive though so try not to neglect her..too much,... only 10% ,...come on, that is sad... you can give 23% more can't ya? :hmm
This is a cool place, Thanks Nelson and Lily. Same name on any forum..

When I did get a chance to play an R8 I could see the differences.
Without it plugged in it had a lot of resonance to it.
When I bought my 2001 LP Std. + I never really knew what to look for. I bought it because I liked Honeyburst and the top had a fair bit of figure to it. (Plus I wanted an LP.)
I got the Am DLX Strat the year before when I started to play. At that point I had NO IDEA what to look for. The sales rep told me the action was good, the humbucker gave it the extra dimension and I loved the color. Sold.
The PRS was a different story. I only learned about these as I continued to visit the shop for lessons. The shop I go to is the main PRS dealer in the Toronto area. I now had about 2 years of playing under my belt so I knew a bit more.
After the shop owner let me borrow a couple of different models I knew this was the guitar for me. It was then just a matter of finding the top I wanted. The shop E mailed me a photo at work one morning and by 6 that night I had it at home.
I just love the finish, sound and looks of the PRS, so it gets most of the play.
I did change the caps and pots on my LP to sort of upgrade it a bit but it still seems to lack the power or umph the PRS has.
I promise I'll take it out tomorrow for a little exercise.

Tonemeisterfiend: I was an early member at the old original LP Forum that Dave started. "hank" was born with Dave's original forum. I also participated in the Gibson board before Dave spun off but my handle was different.

I seem to be in the minority here. I took the path less traveled but I don't really seem to remember where I found the link to this place. Now if you don't mind I'll go sit in the corner with the rest of the new kids. ;)

Well, I was on the LPF until shortly after it dropped the "UG" at the beginning of the abbreviation. Then I rode out of Dodge after an altercation and never really went back. I've been at the House of Horns ever since (actually I've been with the HoH since Kreig started the first one) and stxrus steered me here when a question about acoustics at the HoH Repair Shop went unanswered.
Same name, or at least a variation thereof...

Oh, great! i've now got to contend with the delusions of not only Mr. Rafalco but also SamBlob.
actually Sam, knowing the postal service i would not be at all surprised if one or more of the amps i am going to win makes it to your doorstep.
lasst fall i ordered a cd from amazon and it actually went to barbados then back to amazon and again to barbados where the person that received it (an honest individual i might add) remarked the address as USVI not West Indies. it finally made its way home to me. oh, the postal service......
so, if you accidentally get one or more of my amps i will forward the correct address.

Something like that happens to me every month. Cheers to the Jamaica, NY post office (who forwards my magazines to the Jamaica where I live!) and JEERS to the Hachette-Filipacci subscription office!!!
